The concept of AgroRes is based on optimization of Large Scale Organic & Printed Photovoltaics (OPVs), with high optical transparency in the visible spectrum, to be exploited in the construction of a hybrid system that will provide energy autonomy to remote greenhouse units. The flagship of the AgroRes project is the combination of two renewable energy sources (Solar & Wind), by integrating OPVs & Wind Turbine in order to build the Hybrid System, supported by Power Generator in case of additional energy demand. The energy produced will be stored in battery packs and will serve total energy consumption of a hydroponic Mediterranean Greenhouse. The pioneering project respecting the creation of “Energy Autonomous Greenhouse Units” would offer minimized carbon footprint, reduced operating costs, new job positions and strong entrepreneurship opportunities in the agri-food and emerging technologies sectors.
